Quick 6er: BCS Championship Style
With last nights crowning of the BCS Champion Alabama Crimson Tide I wanted to dedicate this weeks Quick 6′er to the game and all the *important* questions surrounding the game. Let’s get it started
Beer 1. Oklahoma State didn’t belong on the field
Shut up, Mike Gundy. (The OKState coach said he would’ve thrown the ball 50 times.) You didn’t belong on that field. — I know they weren’t on the field, but that’s not the point. Clearly, OKState couldn’t hang with either of those defenses. Many people have said that those two offenses were terrible and I have to disagree. Those offenses were pretty good and their defenses were even better. Look at the points LSU put up in the games they didn’t play Alabama: 40, 49, 19, 47, 35, 41, 38, 45, 42, 52, 41 and 42. That included 7 ranked teams, 2 BCS game champions and a fantastic Arkansas team who finished in the top 5. Maybe OKState scores a touchdown, but maybe they can’t get passed the 50 yard line. Hell, LSU only did once. Stanford’s Stepfan Taylor, who is barely CFL ready, ran for 177yds and 2 Touchdowns. Imagine if Trent Richardson, who has over 700yds AFTER contact this season, was on the field running down those Cowboy defenders. We’d have another blowout, this time probably by 30.
Beer 2. Should the Title be Split?
I was a HUGE proponent of a split national championship, either with OKState/Bama or a LSU/Bama split. But after watching that utter beat down, of what I was considering one of the greatest college teams in history, nobody other than Alabama deserved this title. Nobody.
Beer 3. What Happened to Trent Richardson?
Someone needs to explain this to me as I still haven’t heard a good answer. Why did Nick Saban keep pulling one of the best running backs in the game for his backup when he got inside the 30yd line? I can only think Saban had bet the under and didn’t want any touchdowns scored in the game.
Related: How come Jarett Lee was still on the sideline in the 3rd & 4th quarters? At least rotate him in a couple of series. I guess Miles also bet the under.
Beer 4. Next Year Can we Please Have OKState vs. Oregon in the National Title?
I’m not looking for an Alamo Bowl like game here, I’d like some good defensive plays every now and then, but please give me a game in the mid to high 20s. I want to Over/Under to be set somewhere around 49, not 19. By no means am I saying that these two teams could’ve beat either LSU or Bama, but I’m saying the game would’ve been more entertaining. I’m a defensive guy. I love seeing defensive plays. Sacks, Interceptions, Big Hits, Punt Returns all that gets me hype. But let see some scoring.
Beer 5. The BCS isn’t Perfect.

Drunken Prediction: PlusOne Bowl system implemented in 2015.
