Griffin goes out in style!!
When the Alamo Bowl matchup was set, it was widely thought that the game would be Robert Griffin III’s final game as a Baylor Bear. Though we do not know that for a fact yet, RG III and his Bears sure did go out in style in the Alamo Bowl. Griffin did not have his best game and was somewhat upstaged by the opposing QB, but the record breaking performance by his team and Washington will leave a lasting impression of what Griffin has done in his Baylor career. Baylor defeated Washington 67-56 and in the process racked up 777 yards of total offense. Both the 67 points and 777 yards are bowl records by an individual team. The teams combined to score 123 points and collect 1397 yards of offense, which are both bowl records (123 points is the regulation record). Though Griffin was not as prolific as usual, he was just as charismatic and relaxed in the post game press conference as he always is. Robert Griffin III is exactly what college football needed. He is a young, athletic, charismatic, and intelligent Heisman winner who has just enough character and cockiness that he doesn’t come off as a jerk. In this writer’s opinion, he should go pro since he has nothing left to prove and Baylor is not going to contend for a National Championship, but it is ultimately his decision.
