Creativity at St. Andrews

When the Open Championship is played at St. Andrew’s Links in Fife, Scotland, there is a sense of class and respect that comes with it. Most people are in awe of the beautiful course and countryside. Most players have the utmost respect for the weather and the treacherous bunkers on the course. The 2010 Open has been very difficult, and no hole has caused more problems then 17, the famous Road Hole. Whether it be the monstrous road hole bunker, or the road right next to the green, golfers have averaged about 4.8 strokes this week on this par-4. Almost worse than hitting the ball in the road hole bunker, is hitting it across the road and right up against the brick wall. This leaves you with the only option of pitching the ball away from the hole to give yourself some room. Unless you are Miguel Angel Jimenez that is. He decides to play his own personal game of H.O.R.S.E on the 17th. Keep reading to see the video!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? This shot is one that will be replayed for decades. I mean come on, that is some streetball type stuff on the golf course. And not just any course….it is the BIRTHPLACE OF GOLF!! Think of it this way. How many times have you or someone else you are playing with, hit some terrible shot on a municipal course and are up against a tree or a wall. You usually pull the ball off and take a stroke (most cases you don’t take the stroke) so you have more room to hit. Because of Mr. Jimenez today, you are going to see people trying this shot all over the world to see how hard it is. Here’s to you Miguel Angel Jimenez and you totally awesome bank shot!!!
