WAC Commissioner talking expansion
Interesting interview here. The WAC commissioner, Karl Benson, is interviewed on Hawaii radio about the possibilities for the conference should that happen later this summer. The interesting part starts at about the 5:45 mark. After the radio host suggests a few replacement schools from California for the WAC, Benson goes out of his way to mention my alma matter, TEXAS STATE (Eat’em Up ‘Cats!), as a leading candidate – listing the school’s enrollment and athletic budget as key factors.

I actually think the WAC would be a great fit for Texas State. Aside from the geographic expenditures, as compared with the mentioned California teams, this is quite a viable option for both parties. What do you think?

I think I got plagiarized.

for seats. Nobody wants to travel to San Marcos & play
on there little league field.
UTSA would be a better choice than Txst. They have far more potential & San Antonio is a beautiful tourist city & the Alamo Dome is world class. They also have a great legendary coach like Larry Coker. UTSA has the potential of becoming the next big thing & rival UT in Austin.
May 28th, 2010 at 10:08 amNobody in Texas is going to rival UT…ever. Mr. Power, you are so transparent. You sayt the same things on teh Texas State fan forum. The WAC commish did not mention UTSA, so, apparently, the school is not up to what they are looking for….yet. They will (UTSA) get there. There’s no real cause to put another school down because you are coming up in the world, finally. Texas State has the facilities and the programs and the academics to go now. Lynn Hickey is doing a great job moving UTSA in the right direction. However, the WAC doesn’t seem to think they are there yet, or so it seems. I’d like to see both schools get into the WAC. I just think everyone in the FCS has to wait and see what happens after the conference realignments dust settles.
