Ty Warren forgoes $250K bonus, for school.
Who cares? Take the money and run. We hear of athletes doing it all the time. They forgo part or all of their college athletic career for the money and fame of professional sports. I don’t see what the big deal is this time…. what’s that you say? He’s forgoing money to go BACK to school? …. Wow. Ok, that’s different.
Check the video after the break.
Ty Warren, NFL Stud, New England Patriot and Captain of his team is passing up an off-season workout bonus to finish his degree. Did I mention it’s a $250,000.00 bonus?
Warren attended Texas A&M University, where he majored in agricultural development and is setting the example for his family by going back. Warren did not leave school early, but he also didn’t finish. Many people struggle to foster a degree in 4 years without the additional time requirements of a collegiate athlete. I’m not saying it can’t be done. But, at 20 years old, if you knew you were going to be drafted in the NFL and sign a multi-million dollar contract, I don’t think you’d be too focused on school, either. Now, Warren is taking the grown up approach and learning the value of his education, citing the “looming lockout” and being an example for his family, amongst his reasons for going back.
I can’t commend him enough. This is a stellar move and one many parents can point to. In this day where pop-stars and professional athletes are looked up to for the wrong reasons, this is a rock solid move. Ty’ron, this beer is for you.
