Kevin Durant – The Future of the NBA

I could give a crap about pro sports. Honestly, I don’t really care to watch them unless there’s nothing else on tv. For me it’s just not as good as watching college games (read The University of Texas Longhorns). So you could see how I would especially the All-Star games.

However, last night I was compelled to watch the NBA’s All-Star Game. It was a basketball game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX (which is an overwhelming place just to be in, I couldn’t imagine playing in ANY game there). More importantly I got to watch as 1st-Time All-Star & Texas Longhorn phenom, Kevin Durant, played a heck of a ball game.

In interviews prior to the game Durant, who was a reserve, claimed to be nervious & anxious about getting into such a big game. When he stepped out onto that elevated basketball court Durant looked liked that he’d been playing in All-Star games for quite some time.

With limited minutes slated for him to “bigger stars”, Durant still put up 15 points in his 20 minutes of court time. Had Tim Duncan, who played like dookie & who doesn’t even care to play in games like this, would’ve been named an “Honorary All-Star”, Durant would’ve gotten more time to bust the East’s collective balls.

These were Kevin Durant’s stats for the game:
Minutes – 20
Field Goals Made / Attempted – 7/14
Offensive Rebounds – 1
Deffensive Rebounds – 4
Turnovers – 2
Points – 15
+/- – +6

His overall +/- ratio was BETTER than or equal to 19 players from both the East & West. Only 5 players combined from both squads had a higher score of Durant’s +6 ratio, which did NOT include the games’ MVP Dwayne Wade.

Hear me know & believe me later…for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, Durant will be a starter & the game’s MVP. On a positive light for the favorite son of Texas Basketball, he has been named to the newest USA Basketball squad that will compete internationally this summer, and then in the 2012 Olympics.

Kevin Durant, if you keep playing as you are now sir, your stock & impact on the NBA has nowhere else to go but UP. HOOK ‘EM
