Cool to not know about a milestone?

Last night during the Spurs game, Tim Duncan made a jumpshot in the 1st quarter to surpass 20,000 points for his career. The educated fans in San Antonio knew exactly what was going on and gave Duncan a standing ovation that lasted through the timeout that Houston coach Rick Adelman called. The Spurs even got in on the festivities, but down at the other end of the court, the Rockets seemed puzzled by the events. Point Guard Aaron Brooks said he and his teammates were confused, but had their own assumptions of what maybe was happening……..

This begs the question…..Are teams responsible for knowing that an opponent is going for a milestone against them? Did it never cross Rick Adelman’s mind to tell his team, “hey guys Duncan is gonna get 20,000 points in the 1st and place will go crazy and give the Spurs a big boost”? The Spurs actually did go on a run and eventually take a 17-6 lead, though Houston came back and won the game? If you were the coach, would you let your players know? Share your thoughts!!!
