History! Unassisted Triple Play!

Wow!  Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Eric Bruntlett has become only the third player in the history of major league history to end a game with an unassisted triple play. The play ended the game and assured Pedro Martinez the win in his return to New York. Check the video below: (The YouTube video has been removed – Video Plays on MLB.com)

Eric Bruntlett unassited Triple Play

This feat is so rare that only 15 unassisted Triple-Plays have ever been turned in Major League history.  To put it in perspective, there have been 18 perfect games thrown!  This beer is for you Mr. Bruntlett, you’ve earned it.

What do you think?

I like the effort, but there have been around 670 triple plays in MLB history. I think what you meant to say is that there have only been 15 UNASSISTED triple plays in MLB history. Also the video no longer works…

No worries, I’m just giving you a hard time. Keep it up the good work and pretty soon somebody other than me may comment on one of your posts… :)

Said unassisted in Title and first paragraph. Fixed 2nd paragraph.
